Note: An odd little effort from Wells. A man contemplates dying during surgery the next day, thinking of the inconvenience, and of who will mourn him. The next day he is sedated and floats above the surgeons, reading their minds. Then he dies, and the story turns into something like Stapledon's "Star Maker."
